Strings, tension and simple frame care

How often to restring, the warning signs of dead strings, and storage habits that protect tension.
Your strings do more work than your frame. Fresh strings bite the ball and give you control; dead strings feel numb and send shots long. For weekly club players, a restring every two to three months keeps the racket feeling honest.
Watch for the signs: the sweet spot feels dull, volleys trampoline off the face, or you keep tightening shots that used to land. Any one of those means the strings have gone, even if the frame looks brand new.
Between restrings, wipe the string bed down after dusty sessions and store the racket indoors at room temperature. Heat from a car boot is the fastest way to kill tension.
Pair fresh strings with a forgiving frame like the Vortex Control Racket while your swing settles, then step up to the Match-Day Pro Racket when you want more punch on the serve.
